# 15 Why you Should drink water daily: Well-Habits for a better life

1. Drink a tall glass of water to hydrate first thing in the morning- Why?

Since your body is about 60% water, you need to drink the stuff! For your overall health It’s considered an essential nutrient, meaning that your body cannot produce enough of it by itself to meet its daily needs. Therefore, you need to get it through foods — and especially drinks — to ensure proper bodily function.

All of your organs and tissues depend on water, and it affects your body this way….

  • Nutrient transportation. Water allows blood circulation, which transports nutrients to your cells and removes waste from them. If you don’t get enough water, the waste will build up in your cells, brain and organs bringing with it a myriad of health issues.

  • Thermoregulation. Water helps to regulate you body's temperature. Due to water’s large heat capacity, it limits changes in body temperature in both warm and cold environments.

  • Body lubrication. Did you know you need a good lubrication? Water helps lubricate joints and affect all micromembranes (which your body is full of).

Water is an essential element of your body’s lubricating fluids, including saliva and gastric, intestinal, respiratory, and urinary mucous - the list goes on. In short, if you don’t hydrate enough you will dry out and dry up!

  • Shock absorbency. Water helps you to ride those bumps- literally! Believe it or not, water acts as a shock absorber, protecting your organs and tissues by helping maintain cellular shape. So drink enough water to keep you in shape!

2. Drink lots of water throughout the day - Why?

Your body loses water daily through sweat, breath, urine, and bowel movements. These are known as water outputs. If you don’t take in enough water throughout the day to make up for these losses, it can lead to dehydration, which is associated with many detrimental health effects - including bad breath- YUK!

Drinking water during the day helps with your water balance which implies that water input must be equal to water outputs to avoid dehydration.

Your brain floats' in water- yes it really does… If you are dehydrated so your brain will be too. This can cause headaches, brain fog and in severe cases the neuro-pathways will block or die causing some form of dementia.

So, is it important to drink pure, clean water daily? The answer is a resounding YES! I fill a litre bottle of filtered water each morning and place in my fridge. Sometime I pop a bit of pure lemon juice for flavour. I drink the litre (sometimes more) through the day as well as other beverages. This ensures that I create the well-habit of drinking water that I can't do without. Some people drink hot water because it warms then up. But I can't stomach that so its cold water for me for sure. I hope you will take up this habit as well. Once you get used to it, I am sure you will feel absolutely Great!
